Structure Interactive Participates in Groundhog Job Shadow Day

GRAND RAPIDS, MI–March 7, 2005—Structure Interactive will host 20 ninth grade students from Northview High School for the 7th Annual Groundhog Job Shadow Day Event on March 7, 2005.

This event gives students an opportunity to experience a real-life work environment and reinforces how important education will be in achieving their career goals. "Listening to employers talk about what it takes to get a job is important. Kids need to hear that their choices have an effect on their future," says Christine Freidt, Junior Achievement’s Groundhog Job Shadow Coordinator.

The process of matching students to businesses, executed by Junior Achievement, takes into account factors such as geographic location, class size vs. company size, and core business vs. core subject matter. Based on the results of an aptitude test, the students were assigned career pathways ranging from Health & Medical Sciences, Natural Resources & AgroSciences, and Business/Marketing to Arts & Communications. Students who fell into the Arts & Communications pathway were selected to visit Structure Interactive.

By participating in this event, Structure Interactive can tangibly contribute to the educational community. Structure Interactive also contributes to the community through the donation of pro bono work. Organizations that Structure Interactive has recently partnered with include Ada Christian School, Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation and Millennium Park.

"We derive a tremendous amount of satisfaction working with organizations focused on the youth in our community," says Michael Brown, partner and director of account services. "Providing our expertise and experience to these groups is just one way we can be active participants in our vibrant community."

Junior Achievement (JA) is a not-for-profit organization that is sponsored by corporations and individuals. Beginning in elementary and working through high school, JA works with students to prepare them for their economic future and give them skills they need to manage vocational issues they will encounter in their careers.
